Message: Dear Mothers against Campus Anti-Semitism, I recently had the honor to accept the invitation of Jewish students to mentor their pro-Israel club, which I did immediately and without question. If you wish to understand why other professors have refused, part of the answer lies in the climate of fear and intimidation created by anti-Israel and anti-Zionist administrators and professors at UNT over the last five years, if not longer. As some of your members already know, I have been compelled to sue UNT on two counts: for 1) violation of my free speech and academic freedom and 2) defamation by being smeared as a racist. Thus far, I have won two court battles – both in Federal Court and in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals – and, with depositions complete, we shall be going to trial in Federal Court this spring. The Jewish aspect of my own case against UNT is summarized in these articles: https://www.camera.org/article/white-supremacy-and-the-jews-the-dispute-over-a-musical-theorist/ CUNY earned the epithet of “the most anti-Semitic university in America,” until they were surpassed by other places like Columbia, UCLA, etc.. https://jewishjournal.com/commentary/opinion/349854/will-cuny-continue-to-become-a-post-truth-antisemitic-university/ https://nypost.com/2023/04/06/how-cuny-became-americas-most-anti-semitic-university/ I am now ashamed of my doctoral degree from CUNY. For a more detailed view of the issues at stake in my case: https://quillette.com/2021/12/20/the-schenker-controversy/ Since in my recent deposition I was asked about administrative actions against other Jewish faculty, and since I was compelled to answer questions about the persecution of Prof. Richard Golden, the Director of what used to be the “Jewish and Israel Studies Program” (JISP) after he asked critical questions at a DEI-organized conference, I would like you to consider the attached documents. They shed significant light on the persecution of pro-Israel faculty at UNT.
