Message: The physical office included an extensive library with many books on Jewish subjects donated by the Jewish Community as well as a classroom, and offices for the director and his assistant. All of these resources were dismantled and dispersed. Who authorized removing Israel from the program title without faculty consultation? Indeed, I have full documentation of the lengthy, highly intensive process needed to ADD “Israel” to the name of the program back in 2011-2012. It may be significant in this context that the largest foreign donors to UNT are Saudi Arabia and Oman. I attach a spreadsheet showing $9 million in “restricted contracts” to UNT from Saudi Arabia and Oman. The fact is that Jewish philanthropy to universities is dwarfed by the funding from places like Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar. At UNT: what is $1.2 million from the Jewish Community compared to $9,000,000 from Saudi Arabia and Oman? (see attached spreadsheet). There is also money coming to UNT from Pakistan: ttps://scholarship-positions.com/pakistan-student-scholarships-at-university-of-north-texas-usa/2021/09/03/ Who is funding these scholarships restricted to Pakistani students? Pakistan? If so, the funding does not show up on the spreadsheet from the Dept. of Education? If you add my cancellation to that of Golden and the Jewish and Israel Studies Program, I would suggest that a pattern of administrative persecution of Jewish pro-Israel professors emerges. It has been said that all those involved in the persecution of Jewish pro-Israel and pro-Zionist professors have left UNT. This claim is false. Faculty – including (shamefully) some Jewish faculty – who have participated in harassment are still present. This issue still needs to be addressed. Timothy L.
